Class Description:
Come hammer on some metal for a few hours! Fold forming is an exciting technique wherein sheet metal is manipulated and hammered to create fabulously textured, 3-dimensional, organic forms. This is a relatively quick process, so students will have the opportunity to create a variety of basic forms. In this quick introductory class, students will cut, file, and practice annealing copper and brass as well as develop a fundamental understanding of how to use a jeweler’s hammer to move metal in exciting ways providing an excellent foundation for future learning. All levels, no experience necessary.
Materials Kit Includes:
Copper for three samples
Earplugs
Students MAY Bring:
Additional Sheet copper, brass or silver sheet 24g
Light weight leather work gloves
Ear protection

Instructor Bio:
Juan Reyes began studying silver smithing in 1995 at North Seattle Community College and since then has developed extensive expertise in a wide range of techniques including lapidary and goldsmithing. He is generous with his knowledge, patient beyond measure and well loved for his helpful, non-judging nature. Juan brings warmth and creativity to every class he teaches.
