Prerequisites: Basic metalsmithing skills are required.
Class Description:
A beautifully set table is in the details. In this class, you’ll make sculptural napkin rings using the fold forming technique to bring a personal touch to a gathering or become a thoughtful handmade gift.
Using a basic fold forming pattern, you’ll hammer folded layers of metal to create flowing, organic shapes. Each ring will unfold a little differently, giving you room to make a set that feels cohesive without being identical. You’ll work in copper or brass and explore patination to add color and bring out the texture.
You don’t need extensive metalworking experience, but you should be able to saw and hammer accurately and be comfortable using a torch.
