Most of Michelle’s watercolor paintings are created on location in plein air. Armed with a tiny watercolor palette and sometimes a handful of colorful threads, Michelle brings her art on backcountry adventures where she endeavors to capture the beauty of these impermanent landscapes. The embroidery on some of her pieces is hand stitched from designs she creates. Her line art is drawn from a variety of reference photos taken on trips, from photos found online, and from live animals sketched in the wild and at the zoo.

Michelle Zeidman is an artist, jeweler, and avid traveler. Born in California and based in Seattle’s Greenlake neighborhood, her fascination with art and animals began at a young age. An artist with a serious case of wanderlust, Michelle has painted and made art around the world from Patagonia to South Africa, the Great Barrier Reef to Yellowstone National Park, Alaska to Hawaii, and all across the West. Through her art, Michelle explores the concepts of wildness and simplicity, freedom and interdependence, biodiversity and extinction. She also produces a line of paper goods—Modern Nature Art. Michelle hopes that her art inspires others to protect wildlife and fight for the conservation of wild places.
