Artist Statement:
The symbols of three major religions as well as the peace symbol, form a labyrinth. 3 little red balls run freely in the labyrinth mocking the little plastic handheld games we played with as kids. But peace is not a game! It is serious business.
Artist Bio:
Linda Savineau is a Belgian born graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts, Berchem, Antwerp. She has lived in Belgium, France and the USA. She maintains a studio in Antwerp, Belgium. Linda travels extensively and loves to investigate new or unconventional materials and techniques and create contemporary, innovative pieces in very limited editions. Her work has been exhibited in different countries and publications. It is represented in museums and private collections.
This brooch is part of the exhibition On Point: Brooches that Speak for Themselves. This exhibition centers on the brooch as a compact but potent site of expression. Each piece holds presence—visually, conceptually, or materially.
