Class Description:
Have you been curious about enameling, the age-old art of applying vibrantly colored glass to metal? Get a taste for it in this one-day workshop. Students will work with a kiln for optimum control and be introduced to correct application of opaque enamels onto flat and domed sheet metal using both dry and wet techniques. They will have the opportunity to experiment with stencils and sgraffito to create repetitive patterns or organic designs. Finished pieces can be completed with simple findings or, if you are a metalsmith, incorporated into your current designs by constructing settings afterward.
No experience necessary, returning students welcome.
