Story behind the piece: This is one of the Moon & Sea series of chandelier earrings. The delicate patterning of the mokume beautifully represents the rippling water, as the reticulated disks echo images of a moon reflected on the sea.
I have included mokume in my work off and on for over 3 decades. The seemingly magical quality of whispering sands or rippling water, calls me to include it in pieces over and over again. Each piece as unique as a fingerprint.
Artist Bio: Jennifer Stenhouse is a Seattle artist, who has been creating small scale sculpture, jewelry, teaching for over 3 decades. Jennifer was influenced at an early stage of her work by 19thC photography and printmaking, and well as several surrealist painters of the early 20thC. Her work is reminiscent of universal mythology and synchronistic fables and tales, especially of the sea.
