Title: Folk Jewelry of the World
Author: Ger Daniëls
Publication Date: 1989
Description: A survey of ethnic jewelry from the end of the 19th century to the present. Fine illustrations (241 color) were hand-drawn by the author using as models museum pieces, photos, and jewelry that is still worn as part of traditional costume. Virtually all types of jewelry are represented: brooches, pendants, and ear and nose rings, ornate headdresses and breastplates, belts and bags, as well as shell and beadwork. Of special interest is the similarity of designs, motifs, and symbols among peoples of different regions who before this century had no known contact.
