FAQ - BATTLE of the RINGS 2026

Do I need to be a professional jeweler?
No. Battle of the Rings is open to everyone—students, hobbyists, emerging makers, and professional jewelers alike. All submissions are juried together anonymously.
Does it have to be current work?
The ring has no time restriction around its creation. It doesn’t not need to be created for this event, it just has to be cool!
Does my ring need to be kinetic?
No. Rings can be kinetic or static. We are interested in strong design, concept, and execution—movement is welcome but not required. It just has to be cool!
Can the ring be one-of-a-kind?
No. One-of-a-kind works, limited series, and production pieces are all welcome. It just has to be cool!
Does the ring need to be wearable?
No… but it is much easier to sell a ring that can be worn. If you design a ring that is not wearable, then it needs a stand so it can be presented as a piece of art.
Are there restrictions on materials?
There are no material restrictions and in fact this year there is a special price awarded to alternative materials.
Can I resubmit a ring that was previously not selected?
Yes. Rings that were not selected in past years may be resubmitted, provided they have not previously competed in Battle of the Rings.
What criteria are jurors looking for?
Jurors consider overall design, craftsmanship, originality, and how the ring holds visual and conceptual interest.
Will feedback be provided on submissions?
Due to the volume of entries, individual feedback is not typically provided.
Do I need a large following on Instagram?
No. A large following is not required and does not necessarily affect the competition as jury also casts a vote.
Do I need an Instagram account?
No, but if you really want to experience the competition you need to have one.
How does voting work?
Each matchup is decided through a combination of public voting on Instagram and juror scoring. [Placeholder: insert exact voting breakdown if you share percentages.] This balance keeps the competition both community-driven and critically grounded.
What happens if there is a tie?
In the event of a tie, juror break the tie.
What happens if my ring sells during the competition?
If your ring sells, it will continue to compete through the remainder of the tournament. The ring will also remain in the gallery as part of the exhibition until the competition concludes, allowing it to be experienced by both online audiences and in-person visitors.
