Ammonite Earrings
These Ammonite Earrings feature a delicate fan-shaped design that makes a striking statement while remaining lightweight for comfortable all-day wear. Ammonites were sea dwelling mollusks whose shell turned to stone when they died. Alejandro found inspiration in Villa de Leyva, Colombia which has a rich history in paleontology. Scientists have discovered dinosaur and ammonite fossils from the area, which was once an ocean (now a mountainous desert). The ammonite fossils, which are dated to be 66 million years old can be found throughout the town and are incorporated into the natural architecture of buildings, structures and the cobblestone streets.
