Story behind the piece:  With this piece I wanted to play with one of the most common techniques to create mokume patterns: twisting. In this case the twist represents also the decoration element and not only part of the process of making.

I learned mokume gane under the guidance of the talented metalsmith Anne Wolf. I did an internship with her in 2016 and since then I kept working with this technique making more pieces for my jewellery collections.

Artist Bio: I'm Francesca Urciuoli, from Perugia to Florence, then the USA and finally Berlin, my journey is marked by a relentless pursuit of innovation and mastery, particularly in techniques like Mokume Gane. After an enriching MFA at SUNY New Paltz and meaningful internships, including with Anne Wolf, I launched my brand and the What If Studio Gallery in Berlin. This space not only showcases my collections but also serves as a co-working space for other jewelry makers.
