Class Description:
Fold forming is a fun technique involving sheet metal, a hammer, a bit of heat and a butter knife! The result is fabulously textured, 3-dimensional, organic forms that can be used for jewelry and also look great hanging in your home or on a tree. Three patterns will be explored in this quick introductory class. Skills learned will include cutting, filing and annealing copper as well as a fundamental exploration of how to use a jeweler’s hammer to move metal in exciting ways. All levels, no experience necessary.

Materials INCLUDED:

Copper and brass for a variety of samples will be provided.

Students MAY Bring:

24g Silver sheet (available in studio store)
Light weight leather work gloves

Instructor Bio:

Juan Reyes began studying silver smithing in 1995 at North Seattle Community College and since then has developed extensive expertise in a wide range of techniques including lapidary and goldsmithing. He is generous with his knowledge, patient beyond measure and well loved for his helpful, non-judging nature. Juan brings warmth and creativity to every class he teaches.
