Artist Bio:
Dana Cassara owns and operates Danaca Design a jewelry school, gallery, supply shop and event space dedicated to fostering creativity and community in metalsmithing. Jewelers are not confined to a single material or strict functionality; the plethora of possibility available to an artist practicing this craft has held her attention since 1992 when she stumbled upon her first metalsmithing class. Dana works with a range of materials however metal remains her foundation. Often expressing a quiet playfulness or sentimentality, her work explores harmonic juxtaposition of elements paired down to essential components.
This brooch is part of the exhibition On Point: Brooches that Speak for Themselves. This exhibition centers on the brooch as a compact but potent site of expression. Each piece holds presence—visually, conceptually, or materially.
