Now in its fourth iteration, YUKATA INSPIRED offers a rare and vibrant fusion of textiles, contemporary jewelry and metalwork, and poetry— a show that bridges cultures and traditions while celebrating community creativity.
Vintage hand-dyed yukata cotton from Japan is the inspiration for the work in the Yukata Inspired Show. The fabric, provided by Okan Arts, was sourced from over 30 vendors in Japan—antique shops, vintage warehouses, used kimono shops, and pickers. A cadre of artists affiliated with Danaca Design took the challenge—to design work inspired by or made from this luscious and dynamic fabric. Poets from Haiku Northwest responded to the meaningful motifs with original Haiku.
This unique show celebrates the beauty of, chusen-dyed cottons by skilled artisans, and reimagines it through mixed jewelry, traditional metalwork and haiku. As host and convener, Danaca Design provides the platform where Japanese textile traditions intersect with the innovation of artists and writers, highlighting the richness of cross-cultural exchange.
All the jewelry and metalwork is available to purchase online or in person.
