Stephanie Benson | Wood Grain Earrings
Artist: Stephanie Benson
Materials: Copper/Silver Mokume-gane, sterling silver findings
Dimensions: 2.5" x .5"
Origin of featured materials: Shining Wave Metals / Phillip Baldwin
Story behind the piece: I bought a bar of mokume-game from Shining Wave metals, I cut a thin piece of it and soldered it to another piece of silver, creating my own bi-metal. I wanted to make a matching set of earrings and necklace, while exploring how the handmade bi-metal would work being thin. With a curiosity for the color of the copper and the parallel lines, my intention was for it to look like tree bark.
