Micki Lippe | Gold and Silver

Artist:  Micki Lippe

Materials: sterling, silver, and 22 karat bimetal

Dimensions: 2"x2"x1/8"

Origin of featured materials: Shining Wave Metals / Phillip Baldwin

Story behind the piece:  The pieces of gold are bimetal, produced by Phil Baldwin. The material that he produced, was so well-made, that I was able to solder it to another piece, roll it down and have a finished item. The buy metal never separated.
The construction of this piece is something I called, Poll construction. It allowed me to have depth in the work, without the weight of regular construction.

Artist Bio: Micki has been making jewelry for about 50 years. Finding Philip and the material that he produced opened a door for her. It enabled her to have the color of 22 karat gold, without nearly the price. I could not have made the work that I made, at the price that I was able to sell it at, without Phil‘s by Metal. The copper silver material that he produced was an added bonus. The color and design contrast gave me even more tools to make work with.

This piece is part of, From Wave to Shining Wave: a Celebration of Phil Baldwin and Shining Wave Metals Baldwin.
