Artist Statement: A lot of jewellery is designed to be timeless, elegant, and very serious.
This ring is a tiny toaster. The ring is hand fabricated with sterling silver. Complete with a lever so the toast can move up and down like the real thing. I like the idea that something precious and something completely ordinary can live in the same object. Because honestly, if a piece of jewelry can make you smile every time you look at it, it’s doing its job.
Artist Bio: Emma Fortune is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Vancouver, B.C. With a lifelong passion for making, she is dedicated to building a career grounded in creative expression. Emma’s work is driven by a belief in the importance of craftsmanship. Through thoughtful design and careful attention to quality, she brings a sense of joy and whimsy to her practice. Emma is currently finishing her second year of studies at Vancouver Community College in the Jewellery Art and Design program.
