One of a kind

Artist Statement: Some time ago, while working in England, I was immersed in a world that fed on and was informed by the origins of the industrial revolution.  Much time was spent at historical industrial sites, where remnants of the processes and signs of the makers could still be found.  A wrought iron spike and a shard of delftware were among the items I gathered, each speaking of a different time.  Once discarded and forgotten, they now come together to live a new life.

Artist Bio: First exposed as a child to the landscapes of Wisconsin, Christopher Gerber now explores the Pacific Northwest, dissecting and interpreting wilderness areas through traditional metalsmithing techniques. Mountain peaks, desert vistas, and sprawling coastlines are scaled down into attainable pieces, allowing manageable interpretation. As a maker and an avid outdoor adventurer, Gerber explores formal techniques from both worlds to help him achieve a better understanding of the space he moves thru.
