Artist Statement: Inspired by traditional natural history bell jar displays, this ring reimagines the glass dome as something intimate and wearable. Flameworked in borosilicate glass, the hollow form encases hand-sculpted glass forget-me-nots in perpetual bloom, never to fade. Referencing Beauty and the Beats’s enchanted rose, the piece speaks to memorial, devotion, and time held in suspension.
Artist Bio: Jessica Tsai is a Taiwanese-American glassblower based in Philadelphia. She received her BFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design and completed the Scientific Glass Technology program at Salem Community College. Rendering life forms in borosilicate glass on the torch, she pays respect to the intricacies of the natural world with high detail and craftsmanship. Her work explores impermanence and fragility.
